The Union Territory of Pondicherry has two districts, four Parts. The Two Districts are Pondicherry (Puducherry, Mahe, Yanam) and Karaikal. Pondicherry is the largest district both in area and population. Mahe is smallest region in terms of area and Yanam is smallest region in terms of population. All the four previous colonies in French India were organised as Union Territory of Pondicherry after merging into India.
